Pitched Roof in Winter

Fallen snow muffles all the straight lines.
Only its spine, the ridge, peaks through up top.
Below, snow fills the valleys between roof and gable.
Snow piles drag downward to the hipped edges at either end
to eventually fill and overflow the gutters. As the sun rises,
melt snow falls from the drip edges of gable ends
